Eastbourne Homes - backing ESCU drop-in

Eastbourne Homes and East Sussex Credit Union have launched a drop-in service offering savings and loans advice.

The Credit Union has started free sessions every Wednesday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm at Shinewater Shaftesbury Centre, which is situated between the doctors’ surgery and the pharmacy in Milfoil Drive, Langney. Savings and loan advisors will be on hand and appointments are not necessary.

The East Sussex Credit Union is a not-for-profit savings and loan company which helps members budget more effectively and save up money, and also provides flexible loans at affordable rates.

Eastbourne Homes Board Director, Sheilah Roberts, was very keen for the Credit Union to set up in the local area. She said: “I feel strongly that people should use the Credit Union, as not everyone has a lot of money and it can be hard to save. Not only do they help people, they also stop loan sharks who make people’s lives a misery.”

Nikki Plummer, Business Development Manager at East Sussex Credit Union, said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Eastbourne Homes and look forward to meeting and helping many of their tenants over the coming months and years.

“We pride ourselves in providing an all-inclusive, truly local service - allowing access to fair finance for all. We encourage anyone to come and talk to us, whether they are looking to make a deposit in order to support our work, or are considering getting a loan in the near future.”

The East Sussex Credit Union is also at 1 Grove Road every Tuesday between 10am and 1pm. All local residents are welcome to drop into either session.
